It has been a while since I blogged. Life has taken some interesting turns - with work life making me get busier. On the personal front, my sister is expecting and any time next week I’d become maternal uncle again J. Achievements wise, I have completed watching all the 10 seasons of F.r.i.e.n.d.s – start to end and really enjoyed it! I loved the serial to the extent that I sometimes start thinking that Joey, Chandler and Ross are my best friends! And I’m enjoying playing Puerto Rico and Settlers of Catan (board games) with friends and colleagues.
Sad news: Yesterday on the drive back home from work, one bike fellow hit my Innova while I was negotiating a turn and created a dent in my car! Man, I hate Hyderabadi’s lack of traffic sense! Want to know a change: I did not have a hair cut for more than a month now! People who knew me would be really shocked – as I normally like to keep very short hair! And I have colored my hair reddish brown! But I don’t think I can last this – as my mother wants me to get a haircut by next week! Let us see…
Two more days to go before I can get back to work – and it is already damn boring! May be I’d go and watch Scrubs or Coupling again!

Harry Potter!
Finally, I've seen Harry Potter 5 and that too in IMax Theatre. It's an interesting movie for a person who has already read the novel. But I'm not sure whether people who hasn't read would appreciate. And watching it in big screen is a different experience altogether. And now that Harry Potter 7 novel is also released, HP has become a hot topic of discussion these days. Initially I was not planning to purchase the novel - and instead thought that I would borrow it from someone and read it. But last Saturday (when HP7 got released worldwide), I couldn't hold back - and purchased the novel and completed it before I came to office on Monday. My parents wondered whether I had the same kind of commitment towards education when I was in school ;).
Regarding HP7, it was as usual very interesting. JK made sure that I was imagining myself as HP when I was reading the novel - and was experiencing the same of emotions! Lot of adventures this time! And a good end to the HP series! JK Rocks!

Life last week!
Uhh…I had a very mixed week…Last week started badly with several issues at work. But gradually most of these issues were sorted out by Friday and the week ended on positive note. And one good friend turned best friend. On the movies front, my bookie [my friend who regularly block movie tickets for us] was off to see his parents – and no movies this weekend. So I spent most of the weekend in gym. In fact I’m pretty pleased with my workouts in the gym off late. I had managed to put down around 9 kilos in the last 6 months and I now feel fit & confident. My goal is to go down by another 3 kilos in the next couple of months. I have also started going early to office to first finish off the workout and then go to work. On the personal front, pressure from my parents/relatives is building up to see me married again as soon as possible. I’ve also realized the need for the companion and gave a nod to to proceed. BTW, I’d be watching Harry Potter 5 on Wednesday :). Can’t wait….
And we finally got internet connection at home! Man...it took several months to get connected to the world!

Innova - All you desire!
Know what? Last week I bought a Toyota Innova, Simpson Red, fully loaded! It’s simply superb! These days I seem to enjoy driving to work even during heavy traffic. Man, believe me – auto drivers seem to respect this car! So I don’t need to honk (too much) to get way.
I haven't got my car registered yet. So no out-of-city drives yet!
BTW, some of my (jealous) colleagues are teasing me for purchasing a van [;)]
What a Movie Freak - I've become!
Do you know that I have turned into a movie freak, lately? One statistics would help me prove this point: The number of movies I had watched since this January (2007) would easily surpass the number of movies I have watched my entire life earlier!
Movies this weekend: Pirates of the Caribbean 2, Shrek 3 and Ocean 13 (Notice the common thing – all of them are 3 parts of their original- uhhh, interesting isn't it?). I loved Pirates – Jack Sparrow is an amazing character. I have become a big fan of Johnny Depp after watching Pirates 1. Shrek 3 was a good time pass movie. Ocean 13, was again a good entertainer. Uhh! It was a terrific weekend.
BTW, I was supposed to watch Tararumpum today with my BILs – but we couldn’t get tickets! So one movie already piled up for the next weekend!

Trip to Corbett
A couple of weeks back, we visited Corbett National Park on a team outing. We started in Hyderabad on a Thursday night, reached Delhi by flight and then a bus journey to Corbett. Corbett is around 300 KMs from Delhi.
We were put up at Tree Top Inn – a wonderful resort. Good ambience/food/facilities. Immediately after breakfast, most of the guys hit the swimming pool to play water polo. We really enjoyed the game - and I played striker (as usual) and was scoring at good pace. After lunch, some of us wanted to stroll - but hail storm hit us and we had to run back to shelter. Rain did not last for long. The organizers had arranged for a walk to the nearby river (which was very rocky). Some started crossing the river and others soon joined. We continued our journey (on the other side of the river) to a Kali temple by walk, gossiping all the way. In the evening, 'Pahadi (Hill) dance' was performed by the some local folks. After a few songs and with some encouragement from the organizers and fellow beings, four of us started dancing with local folks – trying to imitate their steps. A litter later, everyone else joined to dance – and what a fun!!!. After dinner, a guitarist played solos and believe me, he was excellent!!! We pushed ourselves to retire to bed – so that we can wake up at 4:30 AM for the jungle safari.
Next day morning, after some cookies and tea, we headed towards the entrance of the forest. There, we all boarded into 6 jeeps and everyone was anxious about sighting a tiger. I rented a pair of binoculars just in case if I had to get a glimpse of a tiger if it is at a distance. After a few minutes travel, all the jeeps stopped at a forest registration office. There were a few shops selling T-shirts, caps, hats and few other 'Corbett' branded items. I purchased a 'jungle' cap - to suit the journey. Each jeep took a different trail and started searching for a tiger. We saw peacocks, 4 -5 varieties of deer, a jungle fowl, monkeys, turtle and one tamed elephant – but couldn’t sight a tiger even after a couple of hours of search. Disappointed, we had to head back to resort.
After lunch, we decided to have some fun in the swimming pool again. Everything went well – till I got injured - when my knee hit a step inside water resulting in a deep cut. Couple of my colleagues helped me rush to the hospital in Ramnagar (11 kms away). I had a very interesting experience with the doctor. Initially the doctor suggested a ‘Band Aid’. My friend got furious and said that band-aid would not even cover the full wound. Doctor thought for a while and suggested 2 band-aids [J]. After my friends insisted on Tetanus shot, the doctor agreed. At 3 PM, we started for adventure activities. I could participate in River Crossing (crossing the river over a rope – dragging to the other side) but couldn’t join rappling and bungee jump into water coz of knee injury. We played badminton in the evening – I played a ‘limping badminton’ game with another guy (who was also injured and limping). Evening was again fun – initially with light music (old hindi romantic songs) – and when we started dancing, the singer gave up on us and started with some fast numbers. It was good fun again. We were all tired by the time we retired to bed.
Nature walk was arranged the next day morning – but I preferred Space walk in my dreams! After breakfast, we started our return journey to Delhi. We had good fun watching “Dhoom 2” and teasing people relating characters to them! We took a short break in Gateway of India – but I was too tired to notice anything. Added to it, the Delhi heat was unbearable. Return flight was delayed by a couple of hours – but the trip was all-in-all a great experience!!!

Why Phantom
Why Phantom?
Phantom was my favourite comic hero when I was a kid (and even now he is). I had a membership in a lending library where I used to read a lot of comic stories on Phantom, The Ghost Who Walks. He was there for people who were in trouble with Hero (his horse) and Devil (his wolf). Very inspirational. So just selected his name for the blog :).
On a different note, my wonderful colleagues “think” that I’m a chatter box and talk a lot. They even put their money to keep me shut one full day. So I got the nick name, “Phantom, The Ghost Who Talks”.
